Risograph Lab Lecture Series: Kelcey Towell

Kelcey Towell explains, "What is a Lettermaker?" as part of the 2017 Risograph Lab lecture series and puts on a public workshop for Austin Design Week.

By day, Kelcey Towell a designer at Toky Branding and Design in St. Louis, Missouri. By night, she's an industrial designer, business owner, entrepreneur, attempted watercolor artist, and designer of the LetterMaker Stencil, an unconventional typographic stencil used to create custom letterforms. She has exhibited her work on the project and held numerous LetterMaker workshops both nationally and internationally. Her approach to design and the LetterMaker community-at-large is to promote curiosity, to question understood patterns, to think through making, to find delight in the daily, and to encourage play.

Special guest appearance by Gerald Llorence, Graphic Design Alum and creator of USPS Gerald.

The Risograph Lab Lecture Series brings conversations about timely ideas in design and publishing to a public forum. It is supported by the Risograph Lab's Designer in Residence program and our public workshops.

Mabee Ballroom is in the Robert and Pearle Ragsdale Center.


What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Driving: Enter through the South Congress entrance. Take your first right, follow Moody Drive around until it dead ends. Park in the Gold surface lot using this parking permit. Ragsdale Center is directly east of the Gold parking lot. Mabee Ballroom A is on the third floor.

Public transportation: Capital Metro's 801 Rapid line and MetroBus 1 line have stops on Congress Avenue conveniently in front of campus.
